Nice work. I especially like your comment about the Holy Spirit being in charge of each person's sanctification. I think it goes even farther than that. I think we too-often make the mistake of "stepping in front" of the Spirit and trying to do work that is solely His to do - like informing our individual consciences, which you mention. We need to be led more by the Spirit, and cultivate that relationship as a central part of our Christian walk. We bear more fruit that way.

Wow, one of the best-written and unpacked essays on the stronger-weaker brother issue I have ever read, especially as it applies today. Thank you!

I especially appreciated this paragraph, and will take it to heart and put into practice:

"The stronger brother in Paul’s framework, is the one who is fully confident in the grace and love of Christ. He doesn’t doubt his status as a child of God and rests secure in the gospel. Because of that security, he enjoys his freedom in Christ without anxiety. He can hold his convictions with an open hand, not feeling any need to recruit everyone to his point of view, even though he’s personally convinced they’re wrong."
