On this date 15 years ago (Jan 10th, 2010), Christ the King Church held its inaugural worship service at the Corryville Rec Center. It’s fitting that in the Lord’s providence, 15 years later to the day (Jan 10th, 2025), I signed the paperwork to close on a new home for Christ the King Church. I can’t tell you how excited and humbled I am to be part of this!
The new church building is 28,000 square feet (compared to 11,000 in our current building). The new building can comfortably seat 500 people in the sanctuary and has 135 parking spaces in the parking lot. By contrast, our current building seats 230 and has 25 parking spaces. Major upgrade!
Another change is Sunday School classes. Our current building is simply too small to have classes on Sunday mornings, so we’ve done home groups and mid-week classes for the past 15 years. Now, we can add several Sunday morning classes for adults and children.
What’s Next?
We’ve set February 9th as a target date for a “soft launch” at the new location (with a major launch set for Easter). That gives us about a month to prepare the building for use.
Some items on our to do list:
Prayer meetings. We need to cover every square inch of the property in prayer. This is the Lord’s work; we can do nothing apart from his power at work through us.
Work days. Our people are eager to get in the new space, explore, dream about possibilities, and get our hands dirty cleaning, organizing, and setting things up. We’ll get started next Saturday.
Inventory both buildings. The new building comes completely furnished. Office equipment, furniture, desks and chairs for kids’ classrooms, audio and video equipment for the sanctuary, even computers and other electronic equipment. We’ll inventory both buildings and determine what we need to move.
Relocate our church offices. Let’s just say, there’s books to move. Lots of books.
Security. The building already has a security system. We’ll change the locks on the doors. Since the new building is nearly three times larger than our current building, our security team will determine new protocols to ensure everyone is kept safe.
Branding. This is a great opportunity to refresh our look and branding, since we’ll need to create lots of signs throughout the building and paint lots of rooms. A new look will be nice as we introduce ourselves to our new neighborhood. We’re working New Dominion Design Co (whose work I love!).
Sell our current building. Our current building is on the market now. We’re praying for another church to purchase it to maintain a gospel presence in that neighborhood.
That Piano!
One of the perks of the building being furnished is the piano that came with the building. I was over the moon when we were told that the piano was included in the purchase price of the building. (I’m a musician and piano is my primary instrument).
During the building inspection process, we contacted the manufacturer with the model and serial numbers of the piano to estimate its value. Let me just say, my jaw just about hit the floor. It’s a German made, 8 foot, Seiler grand piano. It’s value is greater than what Laura and I paid for our first house!
Our people at CTK are excited for this incredible “perk.” I can’t wait to hear this sanctuary filled with voices singing praise to God accompanied by this fantastic instrument.
The Next King’s Domain Annual Conference
In another major update, we’ve finalized the details for the next King’s Domain conference. The conference theme is “Future Proof Christianity.” The basic idea is that Christians need to prepare for the future by looking to the past.
This conference will be held in our new church building.
When we purchased the new building, we dreamed about this building being a church home for the next 100 years, where our grandchildren and their families could worship. Saints of the past were mindful of legacies, and they built things to last. Christians in our day could learn a lot from their example.

Hey Michael. This is Brandon Brown who went to CTK from around 2012 to 2019. Wanted to stay but had to move to Alabama (I am sure you remember me). I’m still praying for you all and love you. Want to get up to see the new building at some point in the next couple years.
Praise God great things He hath done and a hearty congrats on the purchase of the new facility. Rejoicing with you all!
