“Therefore, Christians should not look to their decision to be assured of their salvation, but should diligently confirm they are a true Christian by acting like a true Christian”.
The Bible is clear assurance and power comes after obedience to Gods commands(preach the Gospel, and serve the least).
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof”(II Tim. 3:5).
God promises the Bible will make sense, when we begin to practice what it says. Today’s “Christians” are deceived because they only got as far as profession.
I believe we are in the middle of the great falling away due to not believing the Truth, that II Thessalonians talks about, and Jesus said there will be a remnant on the narrow path(Matt. 5).
Another good word Brother ! The line that grabs my attention is that Leftist try to redefine Jesus to fit their progressive narrative.
I'm friends with someone who serve as a missionary in Africa, then in the Gaza strip. Now, she is more concerned with her words "Genocide" of Palestinians. She never refers to the original problem that Israel lived in somewhat peace before Oct. 7. She thinks a 2 state solution will fix it all. She doesn't acknowledge that Israel's neighbors want to wipe it off the face of the earth. Always posting articles of philosophers and only scripture taken out of context. I just scratch my head about this knowing she grew up in a good Christian suburban home. She now lives in a huge city where she says she understands that LBGTQA+ are loved by God, just the way they are. I'm dumbfounded ! Sorry for venting but you are absolutely correct.
The danger is, at a minimum, being a genuine Christian but not enjoying the assurance of salvation we're promised in scripture. But the even greater danger is being a false convert believes they are saved. Their confidence is in a decision they made rather than a life of obedience.
New sub here. I really benefited greatly from this article. God bless you!
I just listened to a fascinating interview about this very topic…

Thanks!

Yeah for sure. I worry about megachurches where a significant percentage of the attendees are not converted at all.

Man I hate to hear that. Unfortunately, this is all too common. :(
Praise God! And you're welcome.
A curiosity:
- "Of course, true believers can never actually lose their salvation."
- "Any Christian who abandons the pursuit of godly virtue is in danger."
With respect: what is the danger? What will happen to any Christian who abandons the pursuit of godly virtue?
Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying, Michael!
