This is a good word that American Christians need to think honestly and deeply about. Getting played by Evil is happening way too much! We need some mature discernment. Lord, have mercy on us!

"This piece is about us. This piece is about how so many Christians and pastors got bullied–once again–into engaging in a virtue-signalling denunciation ritual that communicates unquestioning allegiance to a misleading narrative pushed by the Left."

No, Michael; that's what you WANT it to be about. Actually, it is firstly about the video that either Trump authorised after seeing it, or authorised without seeing it, or allowed others to make without him seeing it but which he initially defended without even bothering to look.

Regardless of the content of the video itself, it shows total negligence from a man who literally determines the fate of the nation and all its citizens. Let's talk about THAT first.

Then, as a secondary thread if you want, we can talk about whether or not need to be 'duped' into denouncing racism in one of its ugliest appearances. I would have thought that Paul makes it clear "There is neither Jew nor Greek...", so racism is something every Christian should denounce.

Third, is your denunciation of racism only a 'ritual'? You mean that you don't detest racism from the heart? You condemn yourself when you say it is a 'ritual' denunciation, because that shows your own opinion on the larger question.

And finally, why mention 'the Left'? If it is only 'the Left' who denounce racism, then I must be as Left as they come! Yet I still support a market economy, private ownership, free democratic elections, Freedom of speech and religion, etc. That's because the Centre, where my politics sits, also denounces racism.

Sorry, Michael, but YOU are the one being played by non-Christian influencers here. Repent and acknowledge Truth, whether it comes from Left or Right or Centre or crawls out from under a rock. Judge with a gospel-centred heart, not a partisan-political pamphlet.

Bob, I don't know you, or Michael, but your comment reads like you need to take a step back & search your heart.

Maybe take some time off & go study God's Sovereignty & reground your faith in knowing that God is in control. Michael had a good take on how we get caught up in propaganda, I can totally relate to that. He even spent an entire paragraph at the beginning talking about how Christians discern propaganda... It was in BOLD print... What you wrote is shameful.

He JUST posted this article yesterday & you're attaching him @ 1am? Go to bed bro.

Ashley,

I was not 'attacking' him at 1am. Here in Sydney, Australia it was mid-morning.

Also, I'm already convinced of God's Sovereignty.

I agree with you and Michael that we are all vulnerable to propaganda. The solution to that is to read the Scriptures intelligently, in context; and not through a preferred political lens. I don't see how defending Donald Trump is an assertion of God's Sovereignty, or my criticism of what even Republicans have called a shameful video is a denial of it.

You might like to respond, pointing out specifically where my initial reply to Michael is in error and 'shameful'.
